This is classic schizophrenic pseudo-intellectual tripe. It's like baking a cake.

In steps:

1. Speak with flowerish prose, being arrogantly dismissive of random things.
2. Drops names of legitimate figures (Bill Brophy, Joe Whitworth) to attach your statement to other credible sources.
3. Make obvious points which are essentially inarguable, but offer them as if they are treasured 'nuggets' -- "Hunter Arms produced many pre-production special order guns, never say never when talking about L.C. Smith double guns, usually you end up with egg on your face when you do, as somebody hands you the gun to look at. As Bill Brophy said, if you had the money, Hunter Arms would make you the gun, any way you wanted it."
4. Make any references to other credible sources sound vaguely [but deniably] as if what was said, was said to HIM personally. "As Bill Brophy was fond of saying..." Just like ole Bill used to tell you when you two were sippin sweet tea on the porch.
5. Now feel free to intersperse invented "facts." And only someone who truly KNOWS their stuff will question you. Which is why you hide out as an "expert" in double guns on mainstream forums where most guys just wanna talk about what turkey choke to use on their 870 this season.

It's "fake expert by number." And sadly, he has used this little formula in enough threads that years from now people will still be perplexed when researching a topic.

"Wait, so...my Nitro Special which appears to have been rocking chair whittled by the banjo kid from Deliverance is actually a 1,000 Grade Syracuse Lefever?"

"My L.C. Smith with bench grinder polished frame is actually a 'Silver breech' rarity? Jackpot!"
