Well Buzz not shook up. We are taught in our hunter safety course what the laws are and that law has been in effect as long as I remember so it is somewhat unusual to see a loaded gun in a vehicle. I guide waterfowl hunters from the US and have to constantly remind them of our laws. Ever have a guy grab the barrel of a shotgun pull it from under some clothes in the backseat and have the gun go off just missing his head and just missing you (me)? I was shook up then!

Stan, wondering if allowing a loaded gun in a vehicle applies to all states.

We aren't allowed to carry handguns as you do. I require a transit permit and club membership and the hand gun must have a trigger lock and be in a locked case. I can only shoot it at a registered range AND I must travel directly from my place of storage to the range and back.

Sorry to take this OT.

I can't say for certain but, I doubt it very seriously. Somehow, I think New York might frown on it.

How is it loaded if it is broken open? Just wondering--does wax play hell with future application of finish?

My wonderful Mom put me to bed many nights, sick with a chest cold, with a flannel chest plaster under my pjs soaked with a heated mixture of turpentine, Mentholatum and Vicks Vaporub. That chest cold would be loosened up by morning, and you would be well in a few days. Can't see how it ever hurt me, in the least.

If I had a relentless cough that wouldn't go away she would hang a towel over the headstand of my bed stoked in turpentine. The cough would absolutely stop soon after going to bed. It, also never seemed to do me any harm.

What harm is turpentine supposedly to do to you, now?

Citizens, just naturally over time get used to that sort of government oppression. Sad when the government infringes on personal rights to that sort of level. I hope America does not ever go that direction with similar gun control laws like Canada, and England too.

Not to excuse our nanny state up here buzz but we have hand guns, millions of them. You just need a licence to own one and you cant walk around just anywhere with them, loaded or unloaded, open or concealed. Correct facts are important when making important points. Otherwise we sound like the dopey antis.

Alright, I'll fess up. I really carry it for panthers, eagles and peregrine falcons. Can't very well thin those out with an unloaded gun.

FWIW, in GA a CCL can carry a loaded gun in their vehicle with no restrictions, except on forbidden properties, like school zones, WMAs, etc. GA law considers "your vehicle" as "your property". You might not like it down here, Tamid.

Just curious. Do you frown on carrying loaded sidearms in a vehicle?

Stan we are in a fight to keep our guns. Cant speak for Tamid but most(all) hand gun owners I know support CC at the very least.

The laws on our handguns and on automatic weapons were mostly enacted in the 1930s as a direct response to the bootlegger fueled mayhem of the beginnings of organized crime. Funny how it doesnt work. Two members of organized crime shot each other to death in a Winnipeg restaurant last week. Same old same old.

I hope for the best for y'all, James. You've got a tough row to hoe. Not pointing a finger, because we in the States have similar screw-ups, but that's what happens when the defenders of the Constitution get slack for one moment.

One woman, almost singlehandedly, caused us to lose the ability for our school kids to pray in class, in school. It seems ever since we've been, as Merle Haggard sang, "Rollin' downhill like a snowball headed for hell".

I know many here will Violently Disagree with me, BUT in spite of his infamous Gettysburg Address, ole "Honest" Abe Lincoln took the Government out of the hands of the "People" & put it in the hands of the Central Government. We've been Snowballing Downhill for around 155 years now.

Yes, I guess I misspoke a bit. Canadians can own a handgun but with severe restrictions controlled by the government, and there is NO concealed carry. Sorry. In the U.K., however, handguns have been banned. I suspect, like the U.K., thats going to be a next step for you Canadians.
