I realize I started this thread with mention of a 1 3/8oz hand-load by Don Zutz @ about 1215 fps. My own personal beliefs are that for anything over 1 1/8oz one is better off with a 12 gauge. I have a couple of 16s which weigh in at 6 3/4 lbs, that is to me about the max for a 16, would prefer them a bit lighter. For 1 3/8oz @ 1300+ fps one needs a gun up around 7˝ lbs, don't want a 16 that heavy, spoils the whole reason for the smaller gauge. I'm not much of a believer in "Magnumizing" the small gauges, when I need more shot I want a bigger hole down the barrel.
