Slightly related to the subject.....

Some years ago I remember reading about the military in one of our conflicts enlisting Navajo indians as trackers. When the indians enlisted they were made to cut their hair and lost their ability to track and detect the presence of the enemy. There was a study, ... I don't remember any more about it than that. I was going to use it as an excuse to grow my hair out (again) but these days it's falling faster than it's growing.

The Army did use Navajo Indians for sending messages during the war. They were the only ones that could understand what was sent.

Because the messages were in the Navajo language, an unbreakable code.

To a born again believer, following the Lord, those whisperings may well be the Holy Spirit giving counsel and guidance. But, not always. We must study the scriptures to be knowledgeable in the Word, and also to help us understand that not all voices are for our good. The enemy can disguise himself "as an angel of light", and be very detrimental to our well being.

These things were written by men who know what they are talking about concerning this subject.

The native people of my country deal with these spirits of the earth a lot & know them well. The ones who live in the rock falls at the bottom of bluffs are the long tall skinny ones who taught them how to make weapons and hunt animals.
The people fear them as they will kill you quick if you so much as put a foot wrong by them.

I hear those whispers in places other than just the woods and streams, and they seem to be nothing but beneficial to me.

I would hope that all people who seek and find some spiritual solace in the natural world become fierce environmentalists because we're seeing the destruction of the planet proceed all around us. Stewardship is a lesson we all need to learn and practice if our children and grandchildren are to have even a fraction of the experience we benefited from in our youth. The book of Genesis is the perfect story for the trajectory of our history on the planet. We had every thing we needed, and all of it was renewable. Our accumulated knowledge gives us great power but very little wisdom. We're banishing ourselves. Hopefully, we can undo some of our big mistakes or at least lessen their effects.

Those people who spend time in the natural world are picking up on something that mankind as a whole begin to lose when he started setting himself apart from it.

I think there is a whole bunch of stuff, that is real as rain, that we will never understand or hope to understand. I suppose the important thing is to simply recognize it when it's happening.

I know that on more than one occasion, I have been out on a crisp morning sneaking up to a crossroad, and I got the feeling that something was nearby and as I slowly, with heart pounding anticipation, carefully peered around the edges of the brush expecting a big buck to materialize at any moment.....

that's when the covey of quail I was standing in decided to flush....
