I ran across one about ten years ago at a nearby gun show. The dealers had it on consignment and thought it was a Darne, not knowing hardly anything about either. The were fishing and had an asking price of $1800 on it. I went home and did some research, contacted them and got it for less than half that price. The stock was a bit rough with a lot of dents, fortunately no deep scratches or gouges. I steamed most of the dents out, and carefully refreshed the checkering with a tiny riffler file. The buttplate turned out to be horn with a lot of worm holes. A local gunsmith filled them with colored epoxy, and fitted a new spacer plate, replacing one that had shrunk creating a gap.

The buttstock is hollowed making it very lightweight and hard kicking. Mine is not of the highest grade with a modest line of engraving around the slide and receiver. The neat thing is to watch all that engraving line up perfectly the instant the toggle drops down.
