Ted is on track, MG, email him some pictures, especially of the barrel flats that will have a number of critters stamped on them that will indicate the grade of the gun. The chamber length in mm will also be stamped there, either 65 or 70 with the latter the equivalent of 2-3/4 inches. Include the St. Etienne proof marks just up the barrels from the flats (likely Triple Epreuve).
I have a very fine Charlin 12 gauge with 4 swallows on each side of the flats and use it for upland birds regularly.
