What would be the likely outcome from lowing the shot for this recipe to 7/8 oz. The objective is to use less, and therefore spend less.

An increase in velocity and a decrease in pressure, IMO.
Is this a 12 ga. load?

Bloopers.
There are better powders for 7/8's, and better wads.
That load won't fill a Remington hull anyway, the crimps will be dished to the point they leak shot. It might almost work in a AAHS.
I like Titewad and a CB-0178.
I load 7/8 when I want to shoot 7/8, not to save a penny a shell.

i would never load a 7/8 oz. load for a 12 ga.
There are much better platforms for 7/8 oz.
That's why there are other gauges, IMO.

7/8ths in a 12 works just fine for me at trap. I like it a lot.

To save money I shoot 3/4 in everything I load, 12, 16and 20. Just an almost test I set the trap for straight away targets. Started at 16 and kept moving back. Things quit working at the 25 yd line. That was with a 20 ga Bernardelli hammer gun with a tight mod. in the left barrel. 12 ga with .035 choke was so boring I quit at 22 yds. If I do my part at SC I can keep up with anybody. I load #8's for all clay games. Everyone I have let shoot these have been pleasantly surprised at lack of recoil and how well they break targets. I keep them all about 1150 fps and less than 8000 psi so I can shoot them in all my guns. They are pretty border line with semi-autos, those I usually loan out as I enjoy my old sxs so much more. ymmv

Yes. Sorry. Should have stated that. You did. A CB-1100 is a 12 gauge wad.

7/8 in a 12 is quite useful when you want to do something stupid like shoot a few lines of skeet with a light game gun.
I've been loading 3/4 for a very light Rizzini 20 gauge double with great results.
It's all fun.
I do wonder though if anyone has paid real money to enter The Grand American Handicap and had the confidence to shoot 7/8th of an ounce.
