I have some 10 ga 2 5/8" brass shells which fit my old Parker lifter and I've been shooting BP. I would like to load them with low pressure 1 oz or 1 1/8 oz & SR7625 but can't find any data. Does anyone have any experience with this? David

David:

Either in "Double Gun & Single Shot Journal" or "Shooting Sportsman" there's a publication "Reloading for the Short 10 Bore."

Kind Regards,

I have found that 7625 is too slow to use in Brass shells. Green dot is the slowest that I have been able to ignite,I am guessing that about 24 gr. with fiber wads and 1 1/4 oz shot would be a good place to start. I use 20 gr. in my 16 ga Brass shells.

The article in Double Gun Journal referenced above is Volume Eleven, Issue Three. Article is by Sherman Bell and Tom Armbrust.

I have Bell's spreadsheet of 10 gauge, 2 7/8 inch loads referenced from articles by Bell and Armbrust, with comments by Armbrust. Loads range from 1 oz to 1 3/4 oz lead and bismuth, with a couple T. matrix included.

If anyone wishes a copy, please email me at: jhaynes1@flash.net . Jim Haynes
