With regard to the drilling, this is really a pretty common fault, especially with "trigger plate actions". If you look at photos of a few drillings, you will note a reinforcing bolt near( usually in front of) the Greener safety. When tastefully done, with appropriate engraving, this is an acceptable repair. With a little effort a steel bolt can be installed "blind", bedded in epoxy, and clamped together until the epoxy sets up. Of course this requires the bolt( machine screw with the head cut off)to be let in from inside, so the ends don't show. This method will likely be a little more costly than the exposed bolt.
