Tonight I sit and reminisce,
of friends I have and friends I miss.
I think of childhood, and good times past,
and how the years seem to go so fast.
And as I muse, a tear may fall,
a sigh may come, and memories call,
but no sadness is welcome, no loneliness here,
my days may be numbered, my time may be near.
But, my memories are blessings,
those losses are gain, there is no regret,
and there lodges no pain, in my heart
there is gladness, and joy that confounds
the ones who are bitter, the ones who are down.
I choose not to ponder,
on things that have flown.... away to the past,
to places unknown. I live for tomorrow,
I'm blessed with today, I savor the memories
and to friends I will say........... "Be content and be happy,
with your lot in life, for there always are others, with much, much more strife".
Here's to seasons past, and seasons ahead.
And I lift a glass to you, my friends, at this blessed time of the year.
