I too hope things improve for California. I hope that after this passes people will stick to building where the land wants you to...Geo interesting point Geo, wouldn't you agree that the same should apply along the east and gulf coasts as well? Of course...Geo I guess our hubris is coast to coast then.

....Isn't it really a combination of multiple variables? Even implementing the sound policy culling the fuel for the fires, prolonged periods of drought still makes everything dry and more susceptible to fire. Wouldn't discussing 'multiple variables' just be a strategy to legitimize unrelated agendas? We probably shouldn't assume all fires are equal. The more fuel, the bigger the fire, right? It's probably not the best idea to even bring up 'sound policy', isn't it in the eye of the beholder?

if what you mean by 'right' is that both our hearts go out to those affected by the fires and subsequent trageties...then yes. Every year I hang out for a few days with a bunch of yanks, and am always welcomed with a warm hug and/or hand shake, and always awaiting for our next gathering.
