A friend of mine has just picked up an engraved Folsum Arms Co. double and would like to understand more about it... I thought the best place to go would be to you folks... With no picture available, here is his description:
......
It is a 12ga. no.8329x. aside from the ser. no.,, it has a typical fat grouse flying in a wounded bird position, underneath an elegently executed scroll banner containing the words FOLSOM ARMS CO. NEW YORK..... no mention of american gun co., or crescent and no proof marks of any kind. even the top lever and fences are engraved, and the face of the receiver has a silver ring around it. It has the typical crescent buttplate and checkering pattern.
.....
Any help you folks can give will be appreciated... Thanks-Doug
