I had cataract surgery about 5 years ago; and after being near-sighted and dealing with stigmatisms since my youth, was absolutely thrilled with the results. I selected implants designed for distance vision and wear bi-focals for reading, but can see fine otherwise without glasses or contacts. For me personally, the results of my cataract surgery was miraculous; the world is so much brighter and clearer nowadays than I could ever remember beforehand. I elected to have my left eye done first and my right dominate eye done a week later; both procedures took about 15 minutes, and I could see the difference as soon as the initial dressing was removed.
