Being a lightweight 20-bore Ithaca Flues Model, the frame probably cracked long ago and it was reduced to scrap.

Here is another featherweight Ithaca --

I'd almost ran down a cormorant in my Bass boat......he jettisoned a load of poop in his escape!

Don't have any guns for shooting out of planes, but I do have a Model 37 with provisions for aerial sights to shoot at planes. From Uncle Sam's arsenal of course.

We use to paddle or push pole john boats up guts to flush out and shoot Mallards which seem to hide on them everywhere. That was legal but some decided to run their outboard motors instead of paddling and that was not. Game Wardens got smart and started watching from the air in planes. If they saw a motor in use they would call and direct another Warden in a boat to catch them when we came out the gut. Never used a motor but did shoot a lot of ducks that way. I never minded paddling or using a push pole but others could not be bothered. With a hard bottom you could move a boat up a gut just as fast as with a motor at slow idle.

Sorry, but what is a "gut" in this context? I'm not familiar with that term.

A gut is a slough, or a narrow little canal that worms it's way to the larger body of water, be that a river, lake, bay, etc. Guts are sometimes dry, sometimes filled with water, according to the level of the larger body of water.

To be clear, I never shot a duck out of a motorboat while under power. My son and I have one that will seriously run them down, but you would need to be on a large body of water. It's a 21' Allison with a custom built 2.5 Merc and a 14 x 23 x 28 prop. Couldn't no duck outrun that.

My duck killing boat is for jump shooting them, and I just drift with the current.

The Gut is a street in Valletta, Malta, known for establishments to separate sailors from their money.

From the context of this post, it seems quite obvious to me that Jon wasn't referring to a street in Valletta, Malta.

Both definitions may well be correct, but the context determines which one applies.

For instance, a "Ball Bearing Mouse Trap" could be a very efficient, near frictionless, mechanical device for catching little brown rodents, or it could be a "Tomcat" depending upon exactly how the phrase was used.
