Y., for use in an aeroplane. This is a new departure, the order having been received from a New England man who desires to try water fowl shooting from his aircraft.

I believe that would be somewhat "Frowned" on today, as well it should be.

Anybody ever run ducks down with a speedboat and shot them from the front seat? Not that I would've ever done so, but just sayin'................
Used to be a common practice on the Savannah River here, before the wardens got fast boats.

I recall reading an article about a warden engaged in Wolf or Coyote control many years ago who was shooting them from a 2-seater airplane. I don't recall very many of the details, but do recall he stated the hardest part was figuring out how far "Behind" them to shoot. As the plane was moving faster than the animal the "Lead" was reversed.

Used to be a fairly common practice where I grew up for farmers shucking corn to keep a loaded shotgun in the cab of the combine. Pheasant gets up in front, throw combine in neutral, shoot bird, retrieve.
Nothing the government gives you is free.

A 1938 Ford with a crank out windshield was a good way to shoot a few late summer rabbits sitting on dirt road after a shower. Bobby

As the plane was moving faster than the animal the "Lead" was reversed. Been there and done it in the tandem seat 1946 J-3 Cub I had on our ranch. Not for the faint of heart! Biggest fear I had was my shooter getting carried away and putting a hole in the struts or tire. Gave it up when one day as pilot I got carried away with chasing the coyote and forgot everything else. At what had to be the very last split second I glanced forward and what seemed to be only yards away was a canyon wall I was headed straight for. How I cleared it and survived I have no idea but am pretty sure the Lord had a lot to do with it. Had a lot of cleaning to do inside the cabin when back at the ranch house and never shot out of the plane again. Life is short!
