These could be interesting. I have a set of these I picked up from a gun show that has a swab on the end. When screwed together they wobble a bit in the brass connections, but they're wood and vintage. I thought I would post them in case anyone had any interest in them. Those are pretty common. I've got a couple of them that were given to me. Not much quality there, due to poorly made ferrules and soft wood.
Not what you would want to put into the case with a nice double.

I am not the seller nor do I have any affiliation. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/786512120 They are good utility rods and are definitely vintage. Wobbly? Yes but easily fixed. Most have a cross pin holding the ferrules that can easily be removed. Pull the ferrules, clean them, and epoxy back in, aligning the pin holes so new pins can be driven in. Very simple job and fun.

Is it really worth the effort to try and turn a sows ear into a silk purse when the end result is still a sows ear.

I have some of these made by Outers and they work fine. The wood is good hard maple. If a ferrule gets loose, just sneak a little superglue under the ferrule to tighten it up. Hoppes makes adapters so that modern implements fit properly.
And yes I do have some of the nice English rods in my cases and I never use them.

Many of the older ones are British with different threads, they look great in a case with a vintage double.
Also, many of the older attachments are fantastic to use if in good shape.
