Dave closed the Ignore User post too fast for me to comment. So I�ll suggest another approach: Anyone who cares to do it should be able to nominate a user for a �Time Out�. In order for that to happen then a significant number of other users must concur. When that number of concurrences has been reached, the offending user must sit it out for a period of time. Rules can be set up for how long a time-out would be and for the consequences of subsequent behavior. As an example, if the nomination gets ten concurrences, a 30 day timeout would be imposed. Next infraction would be 60 days ,etc In this way Dave could still be in charge but not responsible. I can suggest a couple of first candidates........

I know a liberal Gun Dealer that needs a time out....

There are a lot of Liberal Left supporters of anti-gun Democrats who would just love this idea from Vol423.

They already work in concerted efforts to whine and complain to Dave in order to silence anyone who they dislike. They would all claim to support free speech, but they are all guilty of attempted censorship.

Dave gave them the IGNORE function as a tool to keep their sensitive little feelings from being hurt. But none of them, not one... can stop themselves from looking... and subsequently crying. These are grown men who act like school girls.

I'm wondering who Vol423 has in mind for his version of censorship?

Just don't send Dave another nickel until he enforces his own rules. Simple.

There is no advertising or pop ups. This forum runs on yearly donations and the big ten bucks we send him when we sell a gun. It is done as a hobby so stop demanding things and take Dave away from how he really makes money. Some of us have to learn to behave so we don't lose this wonderful board.

Simple, if you can do better, just start your own forum. Let me know if you do. I'll be a filler member, participate only by your rules and not by what others write about you. Okay?

The only alternative to "ignore" is moderation of this forum. Whether it will happen probably will be controlled by participation here.

If the present unfriendly atmosphere causes a drop in numbers viewing the posts here or a reduction in posts made, I would think that must matter to the owner. Advertising and the income it brings in is what maintains the owner's business here, and participation is what controls advertising.

An un-moderated site is not for everyone...Geo

Well, I have kept out of this discussion until now but just had to comment. Absolutely nothing wrong with watching "Sewing with Nancy". Three major hobbies of mine have been, & not necessarily in any given order, 2-Cyl John Deeres, Double Barrel Shotguns & Antique "People Powered" Sewing Machines. People-powered includes treadles & hand cranks, any nonelectrics.
I picked up some useful tips from Sewing with Nancy.

Only shotguns I have with recoil pads came to me with one installed & were purchased "In Spite OF" & not "Because Of" the pad. Matter of fact on occasion I shoot an 1884 model Trapdoor Springfield in .45-70 with a steel buttplate.

I don't much care what you & Vol423 say to one another (Y'all can have a shootout at High Noon if you like) but that wasn't a valid point.

Perhaps not in all cases, but in some there seems to be a positive correlation between ones number of posts and the amount of vomit they spew.

Would someone help me understand this "ignore" feature?

I've never even attempted to use it, but it seems to me that someone said in a thread in the past that even if you put someone on your "ignore list" their name will come up on your screen, but you won't see the content of their post. If that's correct, wouldn't that explain the posters here who say they use the "ignore" feature, but still can tell that the people they're "ignoring" are posting something, even though they don't see what it is?

I also have never used the IGNORE function. Seems like a rather unnecessary feature that was provided to placate thin-skinned sissies and whining crybabies. But unfortunately, it hasn't worked. Tears are still flowing. Grown men are still holding their breath, throwing tantrums, and crying to Dave.

If I ever decide to IGNORE anyone's posts, I will simply not look at anything they say. It would be as if they were dead. I sure as hell wouldn't be an idiot and respond to someone I claimed to IGNORE.

Nope. I will probably never use the "ignore function". I have a problem with the idea of hiding something from myself. I learned long ago to not read what I did not want to read.

In actual practice, there's not much that I don't want to read. When I read some of the crap posted by those I disdain I just get a big laugh out of their ignorance, and continue to enjoy my day.
