Yesterday I happened to find a You Tube video where a Canadian "off gridder" was recommending a single barrel shot gun as a survival gun. His had a 13" barrel, which he said is perfectly legal in Canada. he discussed a little bit of the Canadian gun laws, talking about pistols and semiautomatic rifles being on the "restricted" list( read prohibited). It struck me that a "sawed off" 13"barreled shotgun that our laws classify the same as a machine gun has not been pointed out by our Canadian friends as being terrible and worthy of their government banning.

What is "restricted" and what is "prohibited" is in the hands of the RCMP. At their whim. So we suffer through an ever expanding list of guns that are now prohibited. Often they get prohibited because they were involved in mass shooting in the US or they look "scary". It is literally that arbitrary.
But of course, that's the point. The arbitrary removal of guns from private hands. One gun at a time if need be.
