I suspect that if things get "iffy" all of a sudden, you wouldn't have any trouble at all cocking it. As far as "what to do with it", You never know if you get a chance to go to Africa. If you don't already have a suitable rifle when the chance comes, you won't have time to get one, work up loads, sight in, and shoot it enough to comfortable with it.
