English 2 Stripe or 2 Iron "Oxford". The ribband edge welds are distinct. Nice rib embellishment with a contrasting pattern BTW

30”, cyl/cyl, made 1872, BP proof, measure as made, 8lbs 1 oz, balances just forward of the hinge pin, just a beautiful specimen.

Very nice gun, Owen. I passed on many of them in the last year or so like that because of the Cyl/Cyl deal. Those are not suitable for me for a waterfowl or pigeon gun. But, there are worlds of them out there.

Nice gun.....but it's long from "mostly original"...hinge pin screw has been out, action and hammers re-case colored at some point, suspect brass looking firing pins...barrels re-browned, checkering re-cut and from what I can see the design of the checkering pattern doesn't look to be original English design. Who ever did the work did a nice job. I'd have the bore diameters and barrel wall thickness measured before I got too excited.

Against my better judgment, I will jump back on this thread... my comments:
1. Making unsolicited negative comments regarding a poster's gun photo chills the desire of the community to post such photos.
2. "Mostly original" was the phrase used by Trigger (MD of WR&Co) to describe it while actually holding the gun and no, he was not the seller, merely a bystander witnessing the transaction.

Use the ignore button Owen. 2-3 strategic "ignores" of particular characters and you'll find life here much more pleasant.
HJ is sometimes right in his acerbic and blunt way, and sometimes astonishingly wrong; but I'd back Trigger any day over him.
I'd be very pleased to own such a gun. It's lovely.

Note that while Joe questions its originality he did say;
"Who ever did the work did a nice job."
Doesn't appear to me he was Bad-Mouthing the gun, just believes it has seen some re-finishing. It definitely appears in the pictures the cover over the hinge pin has had some force applied to it, or is that a threaded in hinge pin. A lot of hammerless guns have a cover at that location as the cocking rod goes through the frame with the actual hinge pin being only in the central portion inside the cocking rods.
That might well indicate it has been put back on face. One might also well wonder if it has that much original finish left, Why did it need putting back on Face. All food for thought.

After glancing at your scant photos again....
I'll go out on a limb and say the butt stock is not original to the gun.
Like I said they did a nice job from what little I can see.
