yes a .360 BPE, 2&7/16" case allows me 5 grains more powder than a standard 2&1/4" case.

where did you find that, Steve?
I am a hammerless guy. A hammerless BPE is as sleek a gun as can be found anywhere

Most of the better guns I own were purchased out of private collections. The gentleman who sold me that rifle has sold me several others of equal quality. I will buy a good gun where ever I find one though, I am not biased in that regard. My H&H Royal came from Cabela's and it is still the best deal I ever made on a gun.

Steve, probably my same experience, too. A lot of the firearms available online are not what is represented. A few years ago I had a NE gun dealer send me a German combination rifle. What arrived was a different but similar gun to what he had for sale. Different maker. A classic bait and switch. Who does that? Another dealer sent me an expensive double gun "ready to hunt." Oh yeah, it was ready to hunt...after it had $2,500 worth of stock and mechanical work done to it. Had it gone hunting, the original stock, the head of which had been oil soaked and then dry rotted for over 100 years, would have snapped off. And the right trigger wouldn't even fire. And so on. Private sales tend to be less pressured, more time to review, to talk. Guys in it just to make money are in it to make money, any way they can. "Dealers are as honest as you can make them be" is a quote from Seyfried, I think. Anyhow, thank you for sharing this great hunting photo.

Yes it is true private sales are often easier and a better deal for all involved. I re-home quite a few guns out of private collections for my clients, both buyers and sellers. Over the years I have developed a good knowledge base of who collects what and where certain guns may currently reside. I recently sold a lovely Westley double rifle built for the Maharajah of Alwahr. No advertising needed, one client was on the hunt and another wanted some liquidity. Collectors who have been in the market for a long period of time are often more reasonable to deal with as well. It is awful hard for a guy who bought in to the market in 2008 to come to terms with the fact that he bought at the peak and the market was badly in need of a correction at that point in time. The older collectors often bought at lower prices on at least some of the collection they own and selling in today's market is more palatable to them. It pays to have high dollar guns inspected before purchase. I would say about half the guns I inspect for clients end up being returned.
