What is the US duty % for a used shotgun? Does it vary with the age of the gun?

Duty is between three and four percent.

I used to import some guns from the English auctions houses until I had too many less that steller experiences. When Christy laid me away on a drop lock Westley. So called expert over there, had the gun in his hand and we went over it. After spending a 1/3 of the cost to get it fixed, I had enought. English has a term that they use sometimes on a gun calling it tidy, which means tired, might need work. I would certainly pay now for someone to inspect the gun. I have seen to many guys buying from overseas auctions and by the time it is all said and done they are so top heavy in it.
So pay the 50 or 100 pounds to get an inspection.

Also, remember the name, address and city and state of the importer must be engraved on the gun. If, they are following the letter of the law.

buying at any auction is a gamble. I like to think of it as more fun and better odds than Vegas. Certainly some are dis-appointments but I have seen and gotten too many great deals to give up yet.
