That�s a decent looking shooter. Looks like countless Birmy guns of the same time period. I�d address the looseness after having the barrels checked out. Interesting the right barrel was cylinder when new and only the left barrel shows choke marking. Earlier guns would have �not for ball� instead of choke markings.

Enjoy. Oh yeah, you just clearly established its value to my way of thinking. Find or load a decent supply of proper loads ad you will be set for fun.

No worries about the looseness, I know a guy that does great work on these old gun actions.

How did I establish it value?

You bought it. Most people point to recent auction prices as the benchmark of current gun values. The biddders all decided what that gun control as worth on that day in that condition. You might have even been willing to go much higher in price but other bidders, the other buyers in the market did not make you. We have all seen two bidders run up the final price as they fight over what the value of a gun is to them, that day.

Dealers may list a gun for sale and never sell it because their asking price exceeds what buyers are willing to pay for it. Asking price exceeds market price. But when a gun sells, like your in did at auction it�s price is established that day. You may value it as a good deal and hope to get more out of it if you sell it later. I�d expect a gun like that to bring more if the barrels are solid and the looseness is fixed.

Price = $260 + $25 = $285.

BV3 for Marson, OQ8 for equivalent of a unengraved and plain stock BLNE. BV3-OQ8-CC7 (Shootable but needs expensive repairs or restored with stock and barrels replaced) = $300.

The highest possible value would be BV3-OQ7 (equal to a 1/3 engraved BLNE)-CC4 (Heavy use, but no abuse or remanufactured) = $1,200.

I'm going to say it is a bit of a bargain, but caution you to not spend much money on it due to the limited upside potential. It left the Marson shop as a solid, servicable arm with minimal extras and little enbelishment. Likely, you can get a lot of good, fun shooting with it and learn a lot.
