What makes a bargain gun a deal to buy is very limited demand. But that sword cuts both ways. When it comes time to sell they can be a bear to unload. Before I'd buy it, I'd make sure it fits me perfectly, was choked like I wanted it and that I shot it very well. Does the fact it will weigh about 6lb.6oz. seem to be a weight he can shoot well. 25" guns were built to be very dynamic in swing. If it shoots well and everything suits then buy it as long term shooting gun and you will not have any regrets. Another consideration is the need to feed it a lifetimes supply of proper ammo. If you don't reload 2 1/2" shells, which I assume what it needs, you need to think about that as well. Either buy a large supply of RST or other factory ammo or buy a 600Jr and make your own.
As to value, others will give you their two cents worth, for what that is worth. A careful search of the internet might find another comparable gun or perhaps a few of our British poster can give you insight for what they think that makers gun would be worth there so you can get a feel for what it is worth here. Some of the Provencal names are more well known than others but quality wins out in the end.
