agreed, if you read and analyse the words of lincoln's gettysburg address, it could have just as easily been written by jeff davis, after chancellorsville and the tragic death of stonewall jackson...that is the tragedy of that war and i think most wars...

if anything good did come from the war, then it was the abolition of human slavery...however, it could have also been accomplished without loss of life or property as was done in brazil...

and keep in mind that the civil war was not so much about preserving the union and freeing the slaves, as it was about money and power...
