and do not be too critical of sherman...he and forrest viewed war pretty much the same, a mean, brutal business...cept forrest was far better at the business of killing...and he was not burdened with a professional military education and did not delude himself with a peacetime officer and a gentleman persona...

or simply put "war meanings fighting and fighting means killing"
