slave dealers in the south prior to the war were much like horse dealers...providers of beasts of burden, necessary for economic advancement...forrest utilized the slave trade to advance himself economically, and became a plantation owner, and hence, his own customer...

murderer? please explain?

forrest was the spiritual leader of the original klan, made up of local self defense vigilante groups, that came into existence in order to combat the excesses of radical federal reconstruction policies...when federal troops began to go home, forrest ordered the klan dissolved...and soon became an advocate for reconciliation with black citizens...

The "KLAN" did not obtain, nor deserve, its bad reputation until it was "Re-Organized" several years after it was Disbanded by Forest. In spite of what you may have read Forest was not the founder of the clan, in fact was not even a member at the start.

It is I believe worthy of note that several years after the war N B Forrest was picked as the KEYNote speaker for a group of Black people meeting in Memphis TN. I would have to look up their name as don't recall it off hand but they were a group which could be called a sort of forerunner of the NAACP.

One might wonder why such a group would pick N B Forrest as their speaker. Well perhaps they simply had a better understanding of him as a MAN than his present day distractors.

I have a copy of his speech to them. It was short & to the point. Basically he told them they could be anything they desired to be & were willing to work for. Contrast this with ole Honest Abe's view of the black race. He publically stated they were an inferior race & could never live on an equal basis with White Folks. His solution was to Export them either back to Africa or to the Caribbeans.

Was everyone here aware that "During the War To Free the Slaves" (Biggest LIe that we have been saddled with) the dome of the capitol building was under construction in DC using "SLAVE LABOR". Also during this time in Lincoln's State of IL it was illegal for a black person to own property. True LIncoln did not per-se believe in Slavery, he just didn't want Blacks around Period.

The more I learn of TRUE history the more I realize how much I have been LIED to over the years.

roads...hello, this thread is not about which side overwhelmed the other and won the war...and it is not about how they then proceeded to lose the peace by implementing radical reconstruction...

A short while before he was killed at the Battle of Franklin (TN) CSA General Patrick Cleburne made the statement "He Who Wins the War Gets to Write the History". In this case a Much More accurate it turns out would have been;
He Who Wins the War Gets to ""Re-Write"" the History.

Ill try to read that at some point, but right now Im more concerned about Apples earnings tomorrow. Trying to figure out a trade. Figure theyll raise the dividend to $2.70, $3.00 would be a nice surprise. EU extorting them for 16 billion. Sonsofguns. Glad Old Bed got right though.
