I have never known the Miller brothers to case color a gun. Of course, I don't get out much. Why is it not suspected that one of the trips to Remington resulted in the cyanide case colors? Does Brian think that the forend can be repaired, maybe in his shop? What is the present barrel length? If it is 26", then it matches the letter. Send us a picture of the top of the rib at the muzzle. Ed is incorrect in stating that a Miller trigger adds value. Most of us would pay extra for the original double triggers. The gun would be a quick sale at a gun show for not much more than $1500, considering the expensive forend repair and stock spacer. Of course, the original poster will be holding out for more. Serialization Book shows the gun was originally Damascus. The rebarrel to Parker Special Steel may explain one of the Remington repair codes.

I recognize that there is a difference in price expectations if buying, particularly for resale, or as a seller.
It has been quite a few years since I have seen such a good user Parker for $1500 in the gun shows that I frequent.

eightbore: my opinion re the miller single trigger is about function, rather than form...if this gun had significant collector potential, then yes, a non factory trigger would decrease its value...however, as this gun appears to be reworked to replicate a parker skeet gun, then a miller single trigger is a better functional choice than the notorious parker single trigger...

as to the case colors, they look like the product of high heat bone charcoal work to me...or they could be chemically induced...hard to say...but, the broken forend iron could be attributed to improper tempering, which left the forend iron brittle and weak...

and it is quite intriguing to learn that the serialization book indicates this gun was originally made with damascus barrels...wonder if the book is wrong on this one, as it sometimes is on others? the plot thickens...

I have seen several guns that had their trigger plates re-hardened after the installation of a single trigger. Millers and others. Given the amount of machining needed on the plate to accept a miller, annealing would be needed, and in turn, re-hardening.

I will again stress to the OP to put no worth in the statements of the above poster. His post above proves in multiple areas that he knows nothing of what he speaks.
