I am also considering my first visit to the vintage cup this year(but I have much less distance to travel). I am very curious what to expect. Should I bring my non-shooting, non-gun-loving wife? Do I have to regsiter early to shoot, or can I just show up? If I can only come one day, which should it be?

By all means take your wife; preregister for a shooting event and her admission will be waived for any number of days you plan to attend. My wife is a non-shooter, has attended twice for three days both times, and has made the leap of imagination to become an enthusiastic member of the peripatetic gallery on the SC comp shoot on Sunday. Last year at Sandanonna, the birds of prey zoo and falconing demo had, I believe, almost universal appeal for those who may feel a bit bored by an acre of tweed, leather, and olde gonnes. Most mature women will, I think, step up to the plate and find something to occupy themselves for a few brief hours. To think otherwise does not give them their due. If she shops, there might be a bit of compensatory outlay there.

I will be attending and setting up a Fox Collectors Booth with the help of Toolman and Foxist. We will have a nice display of AH Fox guns covering most of the grades from Sterlingworth up to a DE, HE and M grade trap gun. Stop by and say hello. Please bring your AH Fox guns for show and tell.

Newlyn, all vendors are fully set up by Friday. That would be my choice for a one day attendance with a fair chance to be able to get back home without incident. Come early, stay late, have dinner in MD, and drive home way after dark. We used to have a bridge that would get us back and forth between the Western and Eastern Shores of Maryland, but it doesn't work any more. Hopefully, you won't have to use our non working bridge.

I am new to shooting and would like to attend with my AH Fox Sterlingworth. Since I am new to shooting and do not know anyone, will I be out of place? What should I wear (I do not yet have the English style shooting clothes) and bring?

We keep our boat an hour away (Sassafras River on Rt 213) from the event so I have free housing and food.

Ken,
You won't be out of place and you know the folks here. If you're worried about not shooting well, there's a non-trophy class for the shoots, (which I believe doesn't keep score) and is $50 cheaper than the standard entry fee. I don't wear the english stuff, but it doesn't take much to get 1/2 an outfit going. You'll really like the all tables full of guns.

Ken, you've got what you need--two barrels one beside the other. Victorian shooting rags optional. The overall look is somewhere between Dickies workwear and prep--few buffalo skinners and mad Scots thrown in--so no one will even notice boat shoes and a tank top. Contact http://www.vintagers.org for copy of pre-registration form so you can get a handle on what you want to do, see, shoot. Raingear always a good choice.

The World Championship shooters on Sunday should know they don't publish all the scores just the top shooters in each category. At least that's the way they did it when at Orvis.Sand. I hope that same "score nazi" lady that sat under the registration tent at Sand. isn't in MD. You ask her what the number scores are, not the places, and she tells you quite beligerantly she won't give you that information. For some reason they think it's top secret. I sure hope the MD place runs it like a regular s.c. tournament wherein score numbers are public info. Otherwise you gotta trust the system. Humm, seems to me I heard that before.
