You need some Bismuth shot and to put that gun back into service shooting a few divers. A pair of Cans next to it would look just right.

American Arms Co. side/swing opener or this Jeffries? What came first? Brits were known throughout the world for stealing concepts and designs and then calling them their own....think jones underlever...that design was patented and in use in France a decade before ol’ Jones “came” up with his bright idea. What a neat gun! Not sure where Long Point is (on Presque Isle?), but grew up not far from Erie (~80 miles south). Lincoln Jeffries made some really interesting stuff. Their "lightweights' were pretty impressive as well.

Long Point is the huge peninsula that stretches into Lake Erie from the northern shore. It is on the eastern half of the lake and stretches in a south east direction. Long noted as one of the premier waterfowl hunting spots in Canada.

Earlier was question of barrel thickness. I had it at the smith's yesterday and 10" from muzzle the 12 ga. barrels show min 23 thou on one side, 25 on the other. The 10 gauge: 32 and 38. I will leave the gun with him for a more thorough evaluation before I fire it. There is a small amount of play in the action and possibly the design allows a slight adjustment to the cam to improve the lockup. Will see.
As to which was first, the Fox swing opener or Jefferies, I really have no info on that. They would both date from same period.

Drew,
I have to admit my limited knowledge of Damascus and its attendant terminology. Is there any way you can explain to me your comments on the weld lines in the photo of the barrels? I am not sure what I should be looking at or where to understand your comments. Thanks in advance.
