Stan,
I'm sure you know the Turks/Persians were/are predominantly Muslin and we pray to the same God.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

I keep an updated record of all my guns. What I paid for them and what I estimate their worth and give my kids an updated copy often. I did inform them some of the books in my library are somewhat valuable and to make sure they get a fair price for them if they wish to dispose of some of them. Most of my stuff will be appreciated by my kids and Grand kids so not too worried about that.

Wannagohunting you sound like you are well prepared. That makes two on this board. My own father, who I spent hundreds of hours going ibis estate hid things that he let me find out over time. Property, a few HH bonds and oh yeah, a Crown grade K-32 in the back of his closet. Some people just do forget and some like to keep a few secrets. At 95 I think he now forgets but I suspect that's a bit of an act.
Come on guys make those list.

Selling some stuff now isn't a bad idea because things aren't likely to improve for foreseeable future. For example fine pair of Charles Hellis Featherweight side-plated BLE game guns (they are easy to spot due to presence of two feathers engraved on side of the receiver) did not sell at Holts despite favorable estimate of 2,500-3,500.

Jon, After a previous thread discussing the disposal of our sporting collections, I took action and have arranged for just a situation. As you have pointed out, the time to do it is NOW! When our family loses us, it's enough of a hardship without adding to it with a collection's disposal. Karl

I'm sure you know the Turks/Persians were/are predominantly Muslin and we pray to the same God. When I pray to God (Daily) I address my prayers through the name of his Son & my Savior, Jesus. He was in the flesh descended from Isaac, Son of Sarah, the wife of Abraham. Mohammad was descended from Ishmael, Son of Hagar, the bond servant of Sarah, "IF" you study your "Bible", GOD makes it very plain through which of Abraham's sons the promised Messiah would come. Clue, it was not the son of Hagar. The Goal of true Christians is to evangelize the world through teaching, the goal of a "True" Muslim is to "Force" all people to be Muslim. People World Wide need to understand the so-called Radical Muslims are the true followers of Mohammad, not those who claim to not endorse violence.

Hi Karl, I had to face all of this stone sober, when I was sick.
Fact is, for most people, the people around you don't want anything to do with your hobby. Disposing of your crap is a painful burden. Coming right after a sad life event.
If it's a big former investment, then they get to revisit the fact that what they view as community resources were sunk into a pile of stuff they now have to get rid of.
There's an uprising of resentment. And if they are mad at you for any myriad of reasons, expect them to dump it as fast as it can be put in a pile. Psychologically, the height of the emotion is tied to the death, or impending possible death. It's not a rational time.
There's probably an optimized way to address this. Something like, "Accept 50% of the purchase basis and be done with it." or, "Have a person look on GI or GB, and set value at 60% of closed auctions. Get them listed. Then, they get 25% of the proceeds for the dissolution, and estate gets 75%.
The unrealized returns can be equated to the fun the decedent had playing with them.
It's over, done, and the burden set down. She'll probably buy carpet and drapes.
Guys trying to grasp at every penny even after death, do themselves and their loved ones no service.
Out there doing it best I can.

I noticed your post and was reminded that was what I was brought up to believe. Our Christian Trinity may confuse the issue a little, but the underlying belief is one God, the same one. A thousand years of Christian/Muslim conflict (especially the current situation) has made what you said in your post a little hard to accept though. At any rate thanks for the reminder...Geo
