I think this is neat! I remember the Bernadeli garden gun that was listed in their old catalogs.

A former co-worker of mine once showed me a neat little German double combo hammer gun chambered for 2" .410 & .22 LR. Hammers were set in the middle of the frame, not on side plates. Gun weighed about 3˝ lbs as I recall. One of the few .410's I ever saw that I might have had a "Craving" for. That would have been a truly neat gun as a carry gun when out for a stroll during the Off Season.

I should mention the shells are roughly $0.50 per round. Not the cheapest, but cheap enough for garden/bird house protection, and a box should last for years with that intended use. The tops of the shells are have a small piece of paper/plastic marked with the shot size with a shallow roll crimp holding it all in the brass.

Not really expensive considering the price of other ammo these days.

This is a neat gun. When I saw the headline "garden gun" I thought immediately of my Savage 24 20ga/.22lr over and under combo gun. With its boat oar quality wood and unevenly "stamped" engraving of a sauntering fox...it doesnt win any beauty contests. But man alive, what a useful gun!

Built like a tank and easy to repair. If Dan Lefever had made this gun, with proper fit and finish, and wear compensating features...

It is not a double. Nor does it elicit any of the romance of handmade quality. But there is something practical and uniquely American about this hard working, rugged, yet unrefined old gun.

It doesnt get to go to the club for clays. But it does collect a rabbit for dinner...and limit the number of groundogs excavating in my hay field. Ive even taken a turkey using a 3" shell, although I prefer a 12ga for that.
