Has anyone here had firsthand experience with the Galazan buffalo hide, shearling lined, leg-o'-mutton case? It looks like a nice case, and I like the idea of shearling lining, and .............the price is only $325. If it's really buff and shearling, that sounds like a deal ...............and it can be had in 32" barrel length.

Those cases look cool but for me they are not practical.

At that price I'm sure it's made over seas and of low quality materials.

In a previous life I recall a fellow in Texas that made a hell of a case out of the highest quality leather but it was more than $325....

Stan- have you got a pic readily available (I can of course do a web search). It sounds an awful lot like the one I purchased from/through Roosevelt/Drake.

Found it right away- yep, same case. Far and away the best LOM I have ever seen or owned. Got it on sale for 285.00 some years ago. Wherever it's made, it is top drawer. The hinged lower of the end cap is a huge improvement over the simple leather strap hinge, as the latter cracks and fails with repeated openings. The leather is the best part; I don't know what species of buffalo (water, cape, or New York), but it is superb. Not soft and easily damaged like the leather I have encountered on oak and leather cases. Tough as nails, and in my opinion and experience, better protection for my gun than even oak and leather.

The lamb's wool interior is very generous and thick, as high a quality as the leather exterior. If you buy it and don't like it, I'll take it off your hands.

That is the kind of information I was looking for, Mike. Thanks so much. I'll get them to bring one to Bray's Island next month.

I have both the Galazan LOM and the Lewis Drake. They are equally well made but the leather finish on the Galazan case is harder, more scuff resistant. Only issue with it is I wish it was a bit wider; the fit on some of my guns like the DT10 and a Parker 3-frame is very snug.

They are as good as they come, I've had a couple for 10 years or so -- I'll never wear one out in my lifetime. Galazan, Drake, as well as Kevin's source them out of India from: http://jandrguram.com/

I bought one of the Lewis and Drake ones years back and didn't think the quality was all that good. I thought the Mulholland I had was a lot nicer case.

I have three that came from Drake: two of the hard leather construction and one of the soft leather construction. I think they are good value and well made.

The Galazan cases look to be the same.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Lou said he is going to bring me a 32", black LOM case to the Bray's Island Expo ............. and one of the engraved damascus boot knives, to examine and maybe purchase. I like the idea of a black one ..........never seen one.

Many thanks to all who replied.
