Until only very recently (like, last November), automatic knives could only be possessed by law enforcement here. Another classic example of politicians "solving" a problem we didn't really have. After "West Side Story", switchblades were banned almost nationwide. I just got this one last week (purely an impulse buy, I fear) and I haven't tried to sharpen it. Forbidden-fruit syndrome. The Campolins are the best I've seen so-far (in my ongoing unscientific survey). Hand-made in Italy to much better-than-average standards.

I haven't seen one in Damascus yet. I suppose it's only a matter of time now.
