Stan;
I do not know where that speed came from. Don't recall it being anything I posted.

I posted that burn speed, Miller, in my first post mentioning Detcord. Sorry to be confusing.

Remember Stan we are speaking of detonating cord here not propellant powder. My understanding is the detonating cord does not burn as such, but travels via a shock wave. Once set off it is essentially All At Once. I do not believe a time nterval could even be determined for it.

Dynamite has also been set off by low voltage electric current by magneto boxes. You know the type with a T-handle plunger on top as seen in the movie "The Bridge Over the River Kwai". I have one of these boxes & a big role of wire, but no
"Dyn-O-Mite".

Here's where I got the numbers from, Miller.

It was my error too use the term "burn" for Detcord.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detonating_cord

"Detonating cord (also called detonation cord, detacord, det. cord, detcord, primer cord or sun cord) is a thin, flexible plastic tube usually filled with pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN, pentrite). With the PETN exploding at a rate of approximately 6400 m/s, any common length of detonation cord appears to explode instantaneously. It is a high-speed fuse which explodes, rather than burns, and is suitable for detonating high explosives. The velocity of detonation is sufficient to use it for synchronising multiple charges to detonate almost simultaneously even if the charges are placed at different distances from the point of initiation. It is used to reliably and inexpensively chain together multiple explosive charges. Typical uses include mining, drilling, demolitions, and warfare."

Stan;
Thanks for the up date. That number converts to 21,000 FPS. One can "Almost" call that going all at once.

I tried twice to send you a PM but don't think either went through, errors on my part apparently. I had a bit on setting off dynamite electrically that I thought you might find interesting but thought I had strayed off topic about far enough here. I will try once more later & see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong.
