Dudley Sidelock Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,405 Rochester, NY	I cannot say this is true about ALL smith guns, but on the ones i have had apart, the forend lug is 2 pcs and it straddles the barrels and fastened with a screw from the top side under the upper rib. So, it cannot come loose. Or be removed without taking off the top rib. B.Dudley
