I have a Sauer sidelock from the 1890's that bites me the first shot, then I remember to adjust my grip. Most of my guns have about 7/8" distance from the front to rear trigger. This Sauer has a gapping 1 1/8" and the trigger guard is commensurately longer, enough that the middle finger takes the hit. Feller must have had awfully big fingers or they planned to use heavy winter gloves.
