Our anti gun Canadian poster, King Brown, has succeeded in changing a thread about gun collecting into a political discussion. I could write several books about the theory and finance of gun collecting after sixty some years of it, but King and a few others have made it too hard to restart the discussion.

An elite would have jumped in page one. _____________________ Fly like an eagle.

Getting the thread away from shadings of class attacks and political innuendo.
Hoarding v Collecting is in the eye of the beholder. What some perceive as hoarding may be collecting to someone else.
I maybe be guilty of both.

....It all depends where we see ourselves in the pecking order.... Apparently, this is in the eye of the beholder, but why did I figure you and your buddies see yourselves at the top looking down? I am partial to the term accumulator, particularly misc. tools and the odds and ends to fix stuff as needed. There have been so many discussions here about the narrow, limited market and dying interest in side by sides. But, it turns out the field is way too large, with near unlimited collecting subgroups. Maybe, defining a collection is a tough thing for the next person to appreciate.

I think you have Kings mindset backwards craigd.
I lean more towards Kings thoughts on the matter. Its all just junk in the end. Who needs it.
Or maybe no one really gives a shyte and would rather watch pole dancing and drink. But what do I know. Im just the...

I'm a discerning collector with a very narrow focus. I like guns that go bang. And unlike Jagermeister, I don't support politicians who threaten that narrow interest.
Dziadu, I have little prediction for you. After you're gone your family will sell them guns wholesale at the nearest dealer. They will not tell you this now because they do not wish to upset you. Before I I jump into something new I'm going have to shoot 300 rounds of .300H&H I accumulated through the Winchester. It would be a shame to let it go w/o breaking it in for the next fella. It will take several trips to rifle range. Getting rid of three and replacing it with just one is a big incentive. Another big incentive is the fact that I can use the rifle barrel to hunt where in the past only shotguns with slugs were allowed. I found neat multi-barrel gun in excellent condition. The shotgun tubes have BoyScout monogram meaning they're steel shot compatible. It has special base on top of rib for mounting dot sight making it very modern and practical proposition. I'm going to ask European fellas to see what they think about that piece. I do believe they will approve of what I found. Last one I found was thumbs down. It saved me from making a costly mistake.

How many times have we heard about this gun or that gun that you were hot on purchasing Jagermeister? You still don't own even one lousy double, and it is apparent to everyone that you never will. And if you can't afford even a cheap double, it is more likely that your hero Barack Obama will become a spokesman for the NRA than you will ever own a drilling.
Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug

Eightbore,
I whole heartedly agree with you. It only takes about 3 pages and the topic is off placed by those who should have been banned years ago. I really don't know what Dave thinks or wants from this forum. It is most difficult to have a good discussion on any topic regarding double guns. And it really is disheartening.

My dream gun is an English version of a 20ga backaction hammer gun with a Jones underleaver and 30" damascus barrels under 6 lbs. That has made me take an interest in backactioned guns and now my current focus.
Are you going to hoard those or collect them? ______________________ A pack of Lucky Stikes A fifth of vodka A pretty Polish girl A lucky man I am

Tamid and Eightbore; I just wish Homeless jOe would chime in here and render his opinion on this hOarding vs cOllecting issue, but really just to get this thread back on the right track. jOe, where are you?
