Thanks for the above estimates John & J.B.; but I was really thinking along the same lines as Ken above. The only cosmetic issues I would address are surface rust removal and perhaps a stock refinish. However; IMO the gun would still have to be priced in the $500 to $700* range to make this economically feasible. Most of us who post here are capable of doing these minor cosmetic things ourselves.

*John: I went back and editied this after seeing your post. The IA of A thinks your spot on with a realistic current value of $500 to $700!!

BTW Ken:
When are you getting off the dime and publish your articles on these low quality guns? Not that anyone really cares about old JAGCs. Box locks make poor decoration over a mantle.:}

Hey John,

I know, I know, I need to push on the last 10% on the "big" Lindner/Daly article. Everytime I think I am really close some "new" Daly will appear and cause me to revise some of what I've written.

I did just write another shorter article for the next German Gun Collector publication that will out in the fall. It focusses on a minty Lindner Daly featherweight gun.

Best,
Ken

Looking forward to reading it.
Hans and I, and then I, procrastinated on publishing but felt that incomplete research was worth telling the world what we/I could. I was careful to state that I hoped that what I had would be a springboard for further research and articles. Half a loaf-----
As soon as we claim being the "Definitive Authority" comes along the factory records translated in seven languages.LOL
Lick a stamp and let it fly !!! I can see much further backward than I can forward.:}

I would pay $350.00, shoot it with a broken top lever spring, maybe win a few bucks at my pigeon club, put it back in the truck, pour some cheap single malt into a plastic cup, hit the rack. Get up in the morning and marvel at the great gun I won money with yesterday. Restore? Why? Of course, we're now back to the asking price. That is the problem.

Ain't that the truth !!!!
If that gun sells at the asking, or near it, I will be a very wealthy man. I will sell all of my guns and be in the catbird seat.I will be able to have that bespoke London product that my father offered so many years ago.
Best,
John

They did not have an asking price yet, believe thay had just received the gun and were hoping I could give them an idea what it was worth. They made some comments that they had been online and hadn't seen one under 2500.00. Like I said, they are pretty good guys, just not well informed on old doubles. We'll just let it steep for a while I think.

Gee $2500 for the "Bulgy". Do you think they did read that article on Lindner in DGJ feauring two "butchers" in front of large brick building?
Not sure about those two guys in white aprons, but the article did convince me that there was very good maker named Lindner. Until I read it I thought you were chasing "Gebr. Ghost" !

I can't help but think that the guy that wrote those articles did a major disservice to us Lindner collectors.

To John's comment on other (non-Daly) clients of Lindner. Joseph Jakob was a gunsmith in Philadelphia. He had his name on a 12 gauge Lindner that I once owned. It was virtually indistinguishable from Daly Lindners. It is now in the Cabelas Gun Library. (Search for 'Jakob.')
