Is it possible to send me your valuation system via email? Yes. PM me your email address and I'll contact you. Do you run Excel? Thanks in advance. You are welcome --- in advance. Would you consider an E C Green BV3? Yes, however, not I, but the market. I am looking at a 10g. Jones Underlever and it appears to be a best gun for Green. No such thing as a "best gun for Green (or any other maker)." It is best work or it is less than best work. Unless, of course, it is an extra finish best work gun. Not the best pics though. Rocketman,
The receiver is a BLNE and that would throw your OQ off slightly. I think the CC is fairly accurate.
OK, we have a BV3-OQ7 (1/3 engraved BLNE)-CC6 = $687.
Does your evaluation system not have a factor for sub-gauges?
Sub-gauges have been a bit unstable over the years, so getting a solid factor is chancey. With the 30" bbls, I'd be comfortable at X = 1.5 to 1.75 --- say $1025 to $1225. Sounds like C's may be about double a realistic price.

They did. Thank you. The charts certainly make it easy to use. I wish I was more adept at figuring out OQ and CC. You certainly have distilled a lot of information into simple charts for us to use.

Milt, get me those photos and I'll render an opinion as to OQ and CC. One of the interesting outcomes of the charts was, for me, a newly increased focus on OQ and CC. Once I realized what I needed to learn I found CC and OQ a steep learning curve. I no longer looked at a gun as a single factor. You are to be commended for establishing a fair price for the lady's gun. DDA

Thank you Rocketman. I sent you photos via your email. You will notice the missing firing pin and nut that holds it in. I look forward to hearing from you on your opinion of this gun. Would you figure the CC and OQ and then deduct the cost of replacement of the firing pin assembly?

Would you figure the CC and OQ and then deduct the cost of replacement of the firing pin assembly? Got the photos. E. C. Green is ranked as BV3 by the market. This has nothing to do with Original Quality, just the value added by his (maker's) name. I agree that this is a "best work gun." The market would grade it as OQ5 - best work BLE and hammer guns. "Shootable but needs some repairs and refinishing," seems to me to describe it; CC6. I'm assuming the barrels are good and/or will clean up, the gun is reasonably on face, and there are no wood issues beyond finish. So, BV3-OQ5-CC6 = $1,336. I'd expect the firing pin system to cost $200 - $400 --- will take a little lathe time. If you are feeling stingey - $800, generous - $1,500, and on the button - $1,000. You could legitimately give those prices a small ding for 10 gauge. How does that stack up with your thinking? DDA

BV and CC are reasonably easy to understand and use. OQ is harder for me and maybe if I was using this for a while I would be better able to evaluate the OQ. This appears to be a best gun but it is a hammer gun, it does have a Jones Underlever and it is 10g. I am not sure how you arrived at OQ5 based on reading the chart or maybe I just need more time and examples to study.
My gut told me on inspection of the pictures that is was an $800 gun. There appears to be a missing piece of wood in the butt stock and maybe some inlaid repair in the checkering. In person, things may be different but the bores were described as dirty, not bumpy.
