$2500 - Youch! In retrospect I thought my initial assessment of $500 - $750 range might have been a tad on the low side (hard to tell how much corrosion is really there) by a hundred or two. But $2.5K is out in left field. Too bad.
Other retailers did sell Daly guns (e.g., Prybl Brothers, etc.). Obviously these retailers had some type of business arrangement with SD&G. It makes sense that SD&G would want to broaden their sales distribution channels.
In regards to the buttplate, I think the simpliest explanation is the most likely - the same ham-fisted smith who buggered up this gun slapped on the first buttplate that sorta fit from his stack of butplates (from previously butchered guns) in his shop - just happened to to be a Husky plate.
