Looks to me like Southern Yellow Pine with a dark stain. ...and a big ass recoil pad. Slab-sawn with wide bands between the rings. Mr. Larson's art?

It appears to be Beech wood. I have seen that same wood on a number of Husqvarna guns and some CZ .22s. Very strange to see on a Beretta if that is what its made from.
