I happened upon a C Hellis 20 ga box lock the other day at Cabelas. 30 inch steel barrels!! They looked to have been honed but i didn't have my tools to measure them. Some slight pitting near the chambers. I expect they were reblued at some time. Straight stock, checkering completely worn off both butt and forearm. Semi fancy figured wood. No splits. The trigger guard and top tang were slightly proud of the wood and refinishing and recutting the checkering would only increase that. Tight on face. Engraving was rubbed and not sharp. Standard horn butt plate. London proofs not nitro proofed. Definitely under 6 lbs but no scale to measure it. And a delight to mount and swing. No serial number. Just a number on the barrel hook. No pictures. Problem was it was listed at CAN2500. I figured at an auction around $700-$900 and off the rack perhaps $1500 tops. Just wondering if my ball parking is in the ball park?

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
