Not sometimes. Always.

I wouldn't understate the effects of regular shooting.

Out there doing it best I can.

Please don't install extended chokes, they look like sh@@ on a SxS. If you want chokes use the flush mount ones. JMHO. SK/IC will work just fine for most targets. Most of my old SxS's are choked LM/LM and I use them for skeet, 5-stand,trap, and SC's. I have one choked M/F for our Pigeon Ring, Long Bird, or back yardage at trap. That is a beautiful gun with a straight grip. At most I'd jug choke it to IC/LM. Shoot and enjoy it. Skeet and SC guns are the same to me.

Just a matter of clarification, but you don't "install" extended chokes. You thread the barrels for screw in choke tubes, then you can use either flush or extended tubes. All aftermarket choke manufacturers have extended chokes to match a multitude of thread systems.

Great point Stan. Briley will thread your barrels for their thinwall chokes, and you can then interchange either flush or extended. You buy whatever combinations of the two you want. Important info because SC shooters don't hold the sxs up to the scrutuny of aesthetics like the traditional purists do, so Mark won't be looked on with aspersion on the SC course as in the field with the hard liners, lol.

CompNChoke will make blued, unported extended chokes if that's what you want. And thread the barrels, if that's the route you decide on.

Yes, having it threated for tubes, extended or flush, is what I meant. I think I'll just shoot it as is for while though and see how it does. Thanks for all the replies.

Hers another opinion . Many if not most clays courses are best shot with open chokes. Exception courses set for tournaments and if tournaments are the intended use its not the right gun anyway.

Adding screw chokes of any kind ruins more SXS guns than they help. Ask the shop if they are going to pattern the gun for POI as part of the job. If not dont let them touch the gun.

Hard use comments are valid, best way to avoid trouble light loads, 7/8 oz at 1150 FPS they way to go. Best pattern the gun before doing anything . You dont have to do a lot of calculation. I draw a 12 inch circles on ordinary construction paper. Shoot 10 20 30 & 40 yards. Each barrel, each distance 8 targets. Looking at the result will either make you trust the load and gun or see that its not up to the job.

My guess is its fine as is.

How about having Briley fit a set of 20 ga tubes to the gun?

I don't recall anybody else saying it, but that is a really pretty gun. I wouldn't change it in any way, including additional ornimentation.

Mergus

PS, I am a casual low gun skeet shooter and sometimes SC shooter. I do it all with a 26" Citori with Imp Cyl in each barrel. All misses are my fault....
