The first model of Lefever hammerless, introduced circa 1884, used a side lever for cocking, separate from opening or closing the barrels. It used a thumb push opener located on the top tang. A few years later with the introduction of a barrel cocking model it was referred to as the "Automatic Hammerlss". These are referred to as Rod Cockers today. I have one of these rod cockers built around 1890/91 in a 10 pound 10 gauge with 3" chambers. Somewhere around 1970 I missed a side cocker by about two weeks. Was visiting my father-in Law in Southern IL & he carried me to see a co-worker of his who liked Lefevers. He told me he had just sold this side-cocker for $25.00. I would have jumped on that one like a Duck on a June Bug. Have yet to find another which I could afford.

Mike,
Sorry but I have a horror of all single triggers in English guns so I have nothing useful to give you.
Gunmaker,
The cocking arm hinges on a small cross pin. You can just see the end of it in pic 3, below the Purdey bolt. If you need more detail I'll try and do a photo for you.
