As a depression boy, I understand your Dad. I couldn't buy a Best Gun, either. I am prissy about the guns, fishing gear and aircraft I buy though, always the most practical and best for the mission. My buddies would think I'd lost it if I showed with a Best; better for them to think I'm discriminating!

As I recall, Jim is the gunsmith who had brought to his shop the original "Bo Whoop".

In your conversation about sleeving with Jim, is it Kirk that he sends his sleeving work? I have always sent my guns that needed sleeving to Kirk.

You must live near I-95 in order to get to Jim's and back in a 3 hour trip.

I remember needing a new AH Fox cocking slide a long time ago and called Jim and he sent me one, may have been one that he had made.

I would say "all of you guys" as I have learned a lot from reading all of the interesting things you guys have posted.
But other people come to mind, Toby Barclay, the late Tony Treadwell. I also liked talking to Stephen Hutton at Britania Sporting as being a former Churchill employee when he was working on my Atkin.

Yes. Jim discovered 31088, Bo Whoop, and restocked it in his shop (buttstock).

Yes. Kirk is who does Jim's sleeving. Jim used to do it himself but now uses Kirk.

And kinda. It's a 1 hr. 10 minute ride to exit #68 for me. Another 1 hr. 45 mins. To Jim's shop. That's driving the speed limit.

We were driving a hillside for my friend's father and uncle who were posted up in huge cornfield on top of the hill. The grade of the hill decreased significantly as it got closer to the cornfield.

This hillside was thick with deadfalls and jagger bushes that reached over your head and tore you up as you busted your way through them. My orange hunting vest was torn up, my face was scratched and my forearms were literally covered with blood. I came up on a deadfall that was encircled with jaggers but beyond it was a small clearing and beyond that was pine trees.

I stepped on a deadfall with my left foot trying to get a little respite before pushing through those last bit of jaggers when I heard my buddy yell, "Gil, one coming." I looked up and there was a four point buck standing right in front of me broadside in that small clearing about 10 paces away.

I snapped my Nitro Special up and fired. I knew that the bead would be right in front of my right eye and dead on that buck. I couldn't have made that quick of a shot with any other gun except a double and I had to as that buck was staring straight at me.

I took 4 pounds of kielbasa into work and a girl there took it all. All I got was a small slice of it. But the baloney was also good. smile

A shotgun can do anything you ask of it, not just kill birds.
