[quote=old colonel]....Bill....the state is not in the meltdown you seem to imply.
Tax reductions do not automatically equal prosperity anymore than rain follows the plow. They can undoubtedly yield potential benefit in fueling growth, economies are unfortunately more complex than simple liberal or conservative economics would sell in sound bites to voters
Yes the tax reductions in Kansas failed to yield the promised results, but the more likely culprit is a flat to declining ag economy than the cuts themselves. As for increasing the state’s debt, no such thing has happened..../quote]
Interesting observations oc. What I'd hope is that regardless of political rhetoric or actual result, it shouldn't be lost on anyone that the state taxpayers look to have been able to determine the use of more money that only they themselves earned.

The rhetoric---racial or otherwise in this thread and others---stems in part from different definitions of bigotry, according to lead article in the current (December) The Atlantic.
It's titled "Conservatism Without Bigotry, Republicans must reckon with their policies' racial effects. That would be more likely if liberals stopped carelessly crying racist."
Liberals and conservatives reading the article may see themselves as equally contributing to a great national tragedy.
I say this because, as Geo says, hashing race and taxes here aren't an improvement. Time to cool it.

Once again, what King Brown says in his post above is absolutely not true. This is why I have repeatedly stated my opinion that pretty much everything that King posts here should be independently verified and taken with a huge dose of salt. I'd like to call this sloppy reporting, but King does it so often that I think he may be the Father of "Fake News". First off, the lead article in the December 2017 issue of The Atlantic is not titled: "Conservatism Without Bigotry, Republicans must reckon with their policies' racial effects. That would be more likely if liberals stopped carelessly crying racist." There is no such article in the December 2017 issue of The Atlantic. The rhetoric---racial or otherwise in this thread and others---stems in part from different definitions of bigotry, according to lead article in the current (December) The Atlantic.
It's titled "Conservatism Without Bigotry, Republicans must reckon with their policies' racial effects. That would be more likely if liberals stopped carelessly crying racist." The title of the lead article in The Atlantic's December 2017 issue actually is "The Making of an American Nazi", and it has nothing to do with the racial effects of Republican policies. It is actually a story about a single Neo-Nazi named Andrew Anglin. Here's a link to the article, and a photo of the cover: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/12/the-making-of-an-american-nazi/544119/ It is hilarious to see King once again pretending that he wishes to quell a political discussion here. Of King's 8579 total posts on this Doublegunshop BBS, over half were of a political nature, and had virtually nothing to do with double guns. Many that had anything at all to do with firearms were filled with his anti-2nd Amendment rhetoric and unabashed support for anti-gunners that he remains in denial about... despite being quoted verbatim on many occasions. "Time to cool it"? No King... time for you and rocky mtn bill to cut the crap.
Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug

King, I would hardly go to the “Alantic” for anything other than a twisted view. Though the article you cite is interesting. Yes there is a Peter Beinart article tagged in one place on the website as https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/12/conservatism-without-bigotry/544128/ However the reality is the racist accusation tactic that permeates the American Left toward traditional values while in my view actually being far more racists in their actions and world view is not going to ever go away. It is too easy to use and convince the ignorant of it validity. Trying to discuss these issues here is pointless

The strategy of those on top of media empire is to label anyone on far right they don't like a Nazi or Neo-Nazi. They will do that regardless whether different fractions of groups of conservative persuasion share Nazi views or admire them.
My take on problems of Grolsh family is that America is not truly a free country if one is of certain background because the locals may not accept them. For example I could never move to state like Alabama, ........ Another observation is if one chooses such a move they need to be careful about how they act what they do and what advice they give to locals. Giving advice like sell the property and donate proceeds to charity is best left to trusted financial advisor and should not be given by real estate broker.

I'm sure the residents of my sister state of Alabama are breathing a collective sigh of relief after "hearing" your announcement.
Why don't you toss Georgia, S. Carolina and Mississippi in the pot, too?
SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

SRH Nothing to do with anyone in particular. I suspect Alabama came to mind because of current senate campaign there, I will be honest if I ever chose to move South from where I live now i would want to land in the panhandle of Florida "flying" over several states. I have energy for one more move and if I do that I'm pretty sure I will land outside of the USA. Nothing personal friend.

You ever spend any time in the Deep South, Jager? If you had, you would know that the Florida panhandle is comprised of the same wonderful folk as the state of Alabama. No doubt, you need some Southern edumacation. JR
Be strong, be of good courage. God bless America, long live the Republic.

JAG your statements relating to the south show a lack of critical thought.
Good and bad things exist everywhere.
Your foundationless views in this area, do you no credit

Michael, my point is the same as yours: discussing these issues here is pointless.
We may agree that citing "twisted views" of the other is often partisan comment that shuts down civil discourse, tragic always and loss for democracy.
And, as you say, human nature what it is, it's never going away
As good a time as any to add that members have been surpassingly careful, taking everything into account, in protecting the integrity of this great board.
