I am not saying "you" should do this, but a friend has a fine 14 bore and chambered hammer gun. He successfully shoots 16 ga. shells in it.

I've been shooting 16's in the 44 for quite a while. They work fine, but the side of the brass gets dented a little from not being a tight fit. Having custom shells made would be the way to go. I need to get on that asap.

Thanks Gil. No, those are the original finish 31" Barnard damascus barrels. This gun really is an anomaly, in that the Husky site doesn't list 31" barrels available for the 44, let alone with Barnard Damascus. This is the only 44 16ga (14ga?) I've ever seen, although I did see a 12ga for sale once.
