My brother and I are doing a troll down the Willamette from Portland to Grants Pass and back in mid-November and would like to stop at any traditional gunshops that you can recommend withing 20-30 miles of "The Slab." We're in a 4-wheel drive truck, so bad roads and weather aren't an issue.
He's looking for a decent spare double for upland hunting, US or foreign, 12, 16, or 20, but he's also interested in decent used M-S, Sako, or FN bolt rifles. He is stopping at a 'smith's shop in Corvallis to have an M-S "Stutzen" reviewed for possible restoration.
I'm "just fishin'" but interested in used Savage parts, old partial boxes of ammo, used gun books and magazines, used holsters and grips, classic US-made knives, and any used Valmet-made "Savage" doubles or combination guns.
If you have a favorite shop, let me know here or by PM. I'll need the name and town, at least.
Thanks!

I can't recommend a good gunshop, but if you get down to McMinnville, there is the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. Howard Hughes Spruce Goose is there along with 100's of military and civilian aircraft. An SR71 Blackbird too.
Used to be a nice eatery in town. The Golden Valley Brewery & Restaurant.

I don't know many, but found the Philomath Gun Shop [just west of Corvallis] to be a fun little gunshop, chock-full of interesting stuff.
Good luck!
Classic 'field' SxS's are what draw me in- that way I can have more than one!
