The Neat's of today do not seem to have the same feet's of yesteryear. That is to say that todays oil is adulterated & stretched/cut with another oil.
At a swap meet I found an old tin of the genuine article. It feeds & the leather stays fed. O.M

To preserve the leather and hide (darken) the scratches use Lexol leather treatment, not the cleaner.

A great home made leather conditioner is equal parts of beeswax and neatsfoot oil. Heat the beeswax and neatsfoot oil in an empty tin can to mix them. This concoction is also great for softening and waterproofing leather boots. I use a brush to apply it to the leather and seams of boots while the mixture is still quite warm so it penetrates deep into the leather. Buff off any excess after it sits awhile. Naturally, this will darken old dried out leather, same as plain neatsfoot oil. I get my beeswax from a local bee keeper. I used to use wax toilet bowl seal rings, but they are now made from a synthetic substitute.

Okay, Kevin got back in touch with me today. The two products he uses are Lexol and Blackrock Leather 'N Rich. https://www.blackrock-leather.com Sorry I didn't get the pics yet. I had a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon and am dealing with some pretty severe road rash. I'm mobile, and able to climb up in a tractor and run the peanut combine, but too sore to shoot anything for a few days. I'll get them soon. I promise. All my best, SRH

A favorite gentle cleaner conditioner of mine is a Fiebings product https://www.fiebing.com/shop/?item=42765Its a thin, white cream that wont darken like oil. Its also sold in the Boot Barn stores under their brand name, but carries the same basic name All Purpose Cleaner & Conditioner. It has proven to me its safe for those delicate jobs. I used it last night for a genuine A-2 Lambskin jacket. Ive used it on leather covered car steering wheels, seats, and other things you dont want to change the look of. Ive also used it on saddles, tack, etc.. I believe it has lanolin as its moisturizing component.

Glad to hear that you didn't get seriously hurt Stan. The lanolin Chuck mentioned for leather is also good for road rash. And I've heard good things about Medihoney and Bag Balm... for road rash... not leather. Get well soon. The doves won't wait.

Thanks all. Can't take it easy, tho'. Got to keep that peanut combine rolling while the weather is right. I was back on it 22 hours after the wreck, and drove it again all afternoon today. I've got severe road rash on my left forearm with 8 or 9 stitches, on my left hand with 2 or 3 stitches, a terribly scraped and swollen left knee ............. but the hurtinest thing of all is the broken ribs. You just can't get completely comfortable until they stop hurtin'.
It's getting better each day, tho'. I picked up my 30" barreled 20 ga. 687 SPII this morning, and was able to hold it up briefly. Yesterday I couldn't even get that arm up. I need to get strong enough to shoot a charity event next Saturday, for a friend, with my 9# 3 oz. MX8. I think I'll be ready, Lord willing.
Plan to take the pics of the refurbished LOM cases Monday, s'posed to rain so I'll get the day off.
